Work in Progress (WIP) is a citywide interactive art festival where 40+ artists open their studios to the public while actively making work. Founded by the public-art-focused Nōvo Collective, WIP invites the audience into environments where art is being created in real time.
This festival pulls back the curtain to show the messy, uncertain, and hard work that goes into making something from scratch. Instead of just looking at a finished piece on a wall, the public is invited to watch the art come to life in real-time, and in some cases to participate in the making itself.
Artists will develop works in progress that are accessible to the public during designated open hours at our central venue, The Blanc art building, in midtown Manhattan. Visitors can expect live creation, process-based installations, time-based performances, and participatory experiences that reveal the raw and evolving stages of artistic production.
